 Fall fashion

This weekend, my sweet husband and I had the privilege of attending one of my dearest childhood friends wedding.

Fall absolutely calls for the best fashion! I love that this season makes it acceptable to throw a bunch of layers together, there really are no rules for fall !
I also ended up chopping off of some of my hair ! I had to get all of the rest of the blonde out, the dead ends were just unmanageable! It was hard to part with, but I think I like this length a lot! My hair grows pretty fast, so I’m excited to start fresh!

How to tame those natural curls

curly hair

Recently, many people have asked me what I do to tame my natural curls. In the past, I rarely ever wore my hair curly because I always felt that it was so big and by the end of the day it was just unmanageable. Until recently, I came across an AMAZING product that I use religiously.

YES

Garnier Fructis triple Nutrition oil, and it really isn’t lying when it says ” miracle dry oil” . If I’m being completely honest… I need about two inches off of the bottom of my hair, but when I apply this oil you can’t even tell. In the past, I would put the crappiest products in my hair to try and tame it. Such as – gel, mousse, and hairspray. If anything those are the WORST products that you could use and at the end of the day they just dry and damage your hair more by causing more breakage and split ends.  With this miracle product, I hardly have to apply anything else!

I wash my hair, and put it in a towel for about 5 minutes so that it’s not soaking wet, and then i comb it through with a wide tooth comb, section it off from the top of my ears and apply a palm full of leave- in conditioner throughout and then apply the oil. However, I spray the oil into my hands first, and then apply starting at the roots. You have to be careful with this product if you don’t have a lot of frizz and especially around the roots of your hair because a little bit of this goes a long way, but if you’re scrunching it, then it’s easier to get away with because it just looks like luscious locks.

My hair is extremely thick and coarse so it is perfect for me because I need all the moisture/ shininess that I can get. If you’re just curling or straightening your hair, I would only recommend spraying twice into the palm of your hands and  running it through the hair starting from your ear and working your way down. If you have natural curls this is truly a life saver. I put an unforgivable amount of heat on my hair every week and was so insecure about my frizzy nest in the past, but now I hardly ever use heat because I love how much healthier my hair looks, and I can also tell that using less heat has allowed my hair to grow quicker! So what are you waiting for ? If you have any further questions about the products that I use on my hair, feel free to email me or comment below!

My miley cyrus twin transformation!

Below is from about a week ago. My cousin Genna took a brave step and went for this edgy, very chic cut /look. I had so much fun doing this ! Her hair was very over processed so we had to take a lot off anyways and this cut was just so fitting for her ! We weren’t able to color it all because her hair needed a few weeks to repair and be nourished with deep conditioning treatments, but we decided since we couldn’t color it all over , that we would give her a fun cheetah print patch were her undercut was ! This of course, wasn’t damaging at all because it was new fresh hair .

updo! No rubber bands needed!

better better2updo! No rubber bands needed!

Had the opportunity this past weekend to do hair for my dear friends photography business. They were doing a boudoir photoshoot! I had assumed most girls would want big bombshell curls, but one client wanted it all up with a lot of volume! This was a really fun hairstyle for me! I didn’t even use rubber bands! I actually had forgotten them, so I resorted to bobby pins! I simply curled all of her hair and really teased her crown, and then basically twisted the sides back and pin curled all of the back up! For a messier look, I pulled little hairs out around her face and ears! Super simple , easy and cute!

Today’s look!

Today I decided that natural was the best route to take! I let my natural hair go and went for the natural make up look! It’s much easier, that’s for sure. Every once in awhile us girls need a break from getting fancied up all the time !

To achieve my curls I simply wash my hair, then leave it in a towel for about 5 minutes. When I take it out of the towel I do not brush it. I simply part it in the direction I want it to lay and apply my product. I’ve come to find that my hair looks super frizzy if I brush it out and then apply product. I use a sleek and shine conditioner from Walmart that I believe is only like $1.25 , and some argon oil . I put a generous amount of conditioner on my hair but I don’t run it through the strands I simply just apply to the ends and roots and then lather it on by scrunching .

As far as my make up, I simply touched up my brows , and applied a tad of concealer and moisturizer . Sometimes I find I feel more confident when I embrace my natural look. I don’t feel that it takes much effort therefore I don’t feel like I’m worrying about anyone’s opinion other than my own, and sometimes that’s relieving 🙂 hope you all have had a blessed day!

Before & after !

Over the weekend, my sister and I had the pleasure of doing miss Joanna kirks hair and make up for an event !

And after

Joanna is naturally beautiful so we didn’t want to do anything too drastic! Just a simple cat eye and false lashes !
A touch of foundation , blush and mascara are all we used to achieve this look! We also filled in her brows a bit more to really show her naturally perfect arches !
